Harvey Scholar and HSBC Scholar. Academic training in Cultural Studies, Computer Science and Human-Computer Interaction. Manni is an interdisciplinary scholar who will begin their PhD, hosted by the Creative AR/VR Hub, in October 2026. Receipent of HSBC Scholarship, Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholarship, and Transform scholarship in 2022, 2024 and 2026 respectively. These scholarships have fully funded Manni’s study in the UK for their BSc (Birmingham), MSc (UCL) and PhD (Manchester Met). Currently, Manni is a Research Assistant at the Raspberry Pi Foundation and an academic visitor in the University of Cambridge’s Department of Computer Science and Technology, where they focus on K–12 computing education. Their visiting affiliation is sponsored by the Foundation. Before relocating to the UK, Manni earned a BA in Cultural Studies from Lingnan University in Hong Kong and worked at the Centre for Popular Culture in the Humanities (now the International Research Centre for Cultural Studies) at The Education University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Studies programme at the University of Hong Kong. Research focus on Hong Kong Studies and Hong Kong diaspora; Cultural Studies and cultural politics; and the ethical, social, and cultural implications of technology. Manni’s current project focuses on the intersection of AI, XR, and educational experiences, with a specific focus on international students.
