Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholar and Microsoft Community Leader. Academic training in Cultural Studies, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, and Robotics. Manni is an interdisciplinary scholar based in London, currently on three-year full scholarships granted by the Alistair Harvey Foundation. Before relocating to the UK, Manni received his BA in Cultural Studies from Lingnan University in Hong Kong and previously worked at the Centre for Popular Culture in the Humanities (now the International Research Centre for Cultural Studies) at The Education University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Studies programme at the University of Hong Kong. Research focus on Hong Kong Studies and Hong Kong Diaspora; Cultural Studies and Cultural Politics; Racial/Gender/Cultural Bias in AI; Ethical, Social, and Cultural implications of AI; and Socio-technical perspective of AI and Robotics. Manni was co-founder of humanimal.books, the first-ever bookstore in Hong Kong focusing on animals and more-than-human relations. This bookstore project was supported by the C.C. Wu Cultural & Education Foundation Fund. Manni’s current goal is to explore Responsible AI and Robotics in relation to Cultural Studies and Social Justice.
